Volunteer EMT
Requirements
Applicants must possess the following characteristics:

·      Willing to help others, at all hours and in all types of weather
·      Willing to show compassion and provide care without judgement
·      Commit to attending drills and other trainings to maintain certification
·      Commit to volunteering for a minimum of 2 years
·      Must be 18 by completion of course
·      Must possess a valid state or federal identification
·      Must be legally employable within the United States
·      High school diploma or GED equivalent
·      No DUI or other drug convictions
Applicants must be accepted into the EMT class and complete the full class, national registry, and be certified by Washington state to be added to the Lopez Fire and EMS roster. All EMS volunteer are assigned a team and are available from home on a rotating shift. Each team consists of multiple EMT's which makes shift coverage flexible.
Applicants who are already national registry or State certified should talk with a dept. representative.
All applicants must pass a background check, doctors physical, and physical agility test.
Lopez Fire and EMS offers reimbursement via a point system, access to medical benefits through the Washington Fire Commissioners Association, and training opportunities.
